Sidney DeBoer

Founder & Chairman of the Board of Directors

Sidney B. DeBoer. Sid served as the Chief Executive Officer of Lithia Motors since 1968, and is currently serving as Founder and Chairman. After attending Stanford University and the University of Oregon, he began an active career in the auto business in 1964 working for his father at the Lithia store in Ashland, Oregon. He worked throughout the store as a Lube Technician, Parts Person, Salesman, Sales Manager, Office Manager and General Manager. After his father's death in 1968 he purchased the store from his mother with borrowed funds and his own $3000.00, and founded Lithia Motors, Inc. He has grown Lithia to its present size as a public company now trading on the New York Stock Exchange. He is a member of various automobile industry organizations, including the National Automobile Dealers Association, Oregon Auto Dealers Association, Medford New Car Dealers Association, Chrysler National Dealer Council, and American Import Automotive Dealers Association. He has been honored with the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award for Oregon, the Sports Illustrated All-Star Dealer Award, and various Medford and Ashland Chamber of Commerce Awards. The dealerships have earned innumerable awards over the years including Honda Dealer Awards, Chrysler Corporation 5-Star Dealer Awards, Toyota's President's Awards, and the coveted Porsche Premier Dealer Award. Sid has also been involved with and donates to many Community Service organizations including Southern Oregon University, the Ashland Community Hospital Foundation, Community Works, Elks Club International, Medford Rogue Rotary, Oregon Community Foundation, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Providence Hospital Foundation, Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, St. Mary's High School, United Way of Jackson County, and the University of Oregon. Sid also was awarded the President's Medal at Southern Oregon University for his work on the Southern Oregon University Foundation. He is currently serving on the board of the Southern Oregon University Foundation, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and the Medford Chamber of Commerce. He is also the Founder and President of the Sid and Karen DeBoer Foundation, which has issued grants to charities exceeding $2,800,000.00, as part of the Oregon Community Foundation. Sid is an avid golfer, runner, and winter and water sports enthusiast. He lives in Ashland with his wife Karen. They enjoy life in Southern Oregon with their 5 children and 10 grandchildren.

    Mr. Becker is President of North American Senior Living, LLC, a senior housing development, operations and consulting company. In 2010, Mr. Becker retired as Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Retirement Services, Inc., a company that runs both rental and continuing-care retirement communities. During his tenure as Chief Executive Officer from 1990 until 2010, Pacific Retirement Services, Inc. was the parent corporation for over 30 retirement, senior housing and healthcare facilities in Washington, Oregon, California, Wisconsin and Texas and provided management, operations and development services to retirement communities. Mr. Becker began his career with Rogue Valley Manor in January 1978. Mr. Becker holds a B.S. degree from the University of Oregon and has previously served on other public company boards.








  • Susan Cain

    Susan Cain

    Director

    Since 2004, Ms. Cain has been a Senior Instructor in Accounting at Southern Oregon University, located in Ashland, Oregon. Ms. Cain holds a B.A. degree in General Science from Oregon State University and a Master of Science in Taxation from Washington School of Law, Washington Institute of Graduate Studies. Ms. Cain joined KPMG LLP in 1978, retiring as a partner in the San Francisco office in December 1999. While with KPMG, she specialized in banking institutions and trust tax services. Ms. Cain is involved with various non-profit and charitable organizations including the Ashland Independent Film Festival and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Ms. Cain maintains her CPA license in California.









  • Bryan DeBoer

    Bryan DeBoer

    President & CEO

    Bryan serves as our President and Chief Executive Officer. Bryan joined Lithia in 1989 where he served in several managerial roles within our dealerships, including General Manager. Prior to becoming CEO, Bryan served as President and Chief Operating Officer. From our initial public offering in 1996 until becoming our President, Bryan was Executive Vice President of Mergers/Acquisitions and Operations. Bryan graduated summa cum laude from Southern Oregon University and graduated from the National Auto Dealers Association Dealer Academy in 1990. Bryan also serves on our Board of Directors.









  • Shau-wai Lam

    Shau-wai Lam

    Director

    Shau-wai Lam is the founder of DCH Auto and continues today as an active member on the Lithia Board of Directors.
    Mr. Lam served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DCH prior to its acquisition by Lithia. Mr. Lam joined the predecessor to DCH in 1967 and initially worked in DCH’s international trade operations; thereafter, he played an integral role in DCH’s expansion into the automobile retailing industry. In 1988, Mr. Lam was appointed President of DCH, where he continued to lead the company’s expansion to 27 automobile dealerships in New Jersey, New York and California. In the process, Mr. Lam has become an industry-recognized leader, having served as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers, as well as a current member of the Board of Trustees of the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation and Chairman of the National Charitable Foundation for Teen Safe Driving. Mr. Lam has earned numerous industry awards including the Wards Auto Dealer Business Magazine Dealer of the Year Award, the Newsweek Magazine Dealer of the Year Finalist Award, the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award for New Jersey, the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers’ Lifetime Achievement Award, Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award for New Jersey and multiple awards for his civic involvement. Mr. Lam is a graduate of Purdue University with B.S. and M.S. degrees in mathematics; he received the Distinguished Science Alumnus Award from Purdue University. Mr. Lam also has an M.B.A. from New York University.









  • Kenneth Roberts

    Kenneth Roberts

    Mr Roberts was a shareholder at Lane Powell, PC, a Pacific Northwest law firm through December 31, 2011 but has since had no ownership or voting interest in the firm. Mr. Roberts was a partner with the law firm of Roberts Kaplan LLP (formerly Foster Pepper LLP) from 1987 until the firm joined with Lane Powell in January 2011. Mr. Roberts’s private law practice focused on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, executive compensation and securities, including representation of public companies, including Lithia, and community banks. Mr. Roberts has ceased actively practicing law. Mr. Roberts is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Oregon State University with a B.S. in Business and Technology.








  • David Robino

    David J. Robino

    Director

    Mr. Robino began his management career at The Maytag Corporation and at Pepsi-Cola. In 1993, he joined AC Nielsen, then owned by the Dun & Bradstreet Corp., eventually becoming Senior Vice President of Nielsen International, based in Brussels, Belgium. Mr. Robino went to AT&T in 1995, becoming a Vice President for AT&T Solutions and later AT&T’s Business Markets Division. Thereafter, in 1998, Mr. Robino joined Gateway, Inc. as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer and later Vice-Chairman. After retiring from Gateway, Mr. Robino served as a member of the board of directors of Memec, Inc., then the world’s largest distributor of specialty semiconductors, and Insight Enterprises, Inc., a Fortune 500 global provider of information technology hardware, software and services. He has served as an adjunct instructor at Southern Oregon University since 2012. Mr. Robino has a M.S. in Industrial Relations from Iowa State University and B.A. in Social Studies from Graceland College.








  • Dick Heimann

    M.L. "Dick" Heimann

    Vice Chairman Emeritus

    Dick serves as our Vice Chariman Emeritus of our Board of Directors. Dick joined Lithia in 1970 as General Manager of Lithia Dodge in Medford, Oregon. Prior to Lithia's initial public offering, Dick was a partner in our four original stores. Dick served as President of the company overseeing operations until 2006. Prior to joining Lithia, Dick served as a District Manager of Chrysler Corporation. Dick graduated from the University of Colorado.
